Girls Volleyball: Nov. 8 Playoff Scores + The Skinny -- Loudoun County, Stone Bridge Punch Tickets to States; Broad Run, Potomac Falls Fall in 5-Set Heartbreakers!

(Nov. 9, 2012) - The Loudoun County and Stone Bridge girls volleyball teams are once again headed back to the VHSL state tournament after regional semifinal wins Thursday while Broad Run and Potomac Falls had their seasons end in 5-set heartbreakers.

Stone Bridge (25-2) will play for a third straight AAA Northern Region title on Saturday against Liberty District rival Langley (24-4) at 6 p.m. at Centreville High School. Loudoun County (24-1) will shoot for an amazing seventh straight Region II title Saturday when the Raiders host James Wood (22-3) at 7 p.m.

Region II Semifinals 

Loudoun County def. Handley, 3-0 (25-8, 25-11, 26-24)

The Skinny:Loudoun County started fast and fought off a late charge to sweep Handley on Thursday night. Loudoun County moves on to the Region Championship this Saturday, and also punches their 7th consecutive ticket to the VHSL AA State Tournament that begins next Tuesday. 

The Lady Raiders won their 14th consecutive match and improved to 24-1 on the season. The Lady Raiders were led to victory by --

The Lady Raiders return to action this Saturday as they host James Wood High School, a 3-2 winner over Potomac Falls, at 7 PM in the Region Final. With a win Saturday, the Raiders would host the State Quarterfinal next Tuesday at 7:00 PM. Come out and support the Raiders this Thursday as they strive for their 7th consecutive Region Championship.

The Skinny: Potomac Falls wonderful season came to an end last night losing to James Wood. Linda Lachey-Helms, PFalls coach, said: "Our four seniors high school careers might have come to an end last night but they leave their mark on PF and high school volleyball. Setting 12 school records. Kayla Carlton, Eileen Fauteux, Patricia Mook and Hailey Bahr are outstanding young women and outstanding role models for everyone around them both on and off the court. We will miss them all so very much."
