News: Loudoun County Offers Free 'HomeCents' Seminar Nov. 14

(Nov. 12, 2012) - The next Loudoun County 'HomeCents'€ seminar will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012. The free seminar is designed to give recent homebuyers and prospective home purchasers an opportunity to explore topics often not covered by their lender or realtor.


Administered by the Department of Family Services and held quarterly, topics include:

• Budgeting: 'œThe How, What, When, Where, Why & Who of Budgeting'; S.M.A.R.T. Goals; Planning for future goals and emergencies 
• Home Maintenance: How often to inspect home components and what to look for; Do-it-yourself versus when to call a professional; Life spans of materials and appliances; Safety 
• Insurance, Taxes and HOAs 
• Information on available local services and resources, including county, state and regional government agencies and nonprofits; tax advantages, 'œMoney Smart'  financial education CD; and much more 

The next seminar will be held in the Shenandoah Room at the Department of Family Services, 102 Heritage Way N.E., Leesburg, from 6 to 8 p.m. The deadline to register is Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012.
