News: Wendy Wickens Selected as New Director of Information Technology for Loudoun County

(Nov. 12, 2012) - Loudoun County Administrator Tim Hemstreet announced Friday that Wendy Wickens, who currently serves as Assistant Director of the Department of Information Technology (DIT), has been promoted to Director, effective December 1, 2012. She will lead the department following the retirement of DIT Director Gene Troxell at the end of November after 45 years of service to the county.


Prior to coming to Loudoun County, Wickens served as the IT Director for the Town of Leesburg from 2004 to 2011 and the Information Systems Manager in the City of Williamsburg from 1994 to 2002. Her past experience also includes work as a regional sales manager for Novell, where she supported both state and local government clients.

"Wendy has extensive experience with a variety of information systems, ranging from enterprise resource programs to public safety communications. Given where we are with information systems in Loudoun County, Wendy is ideally suited to lead the department for the foreseeable future," Hemstreet said.

Wickens said she is looking forward to leading the department, which under Troxell has garnered national recognition for technological advances. “I am honored to be appointed to lead this department,” she said.

In addition to a number of professional and project management certifications, Wickens holds a bachelor’s degree history degree from Christopher Newport University.
