News: Former Frederick Douglass Elementary School Students Invited to Share Memories

(Oct. 11, 2011) - People with memories of the former Frederick Douglass Elementary School are invited to share those memories from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, October 22nd, in the lobby of the former Douglass High School, 407 E. Market St., Leesburg.

Sponsored by the Black History Committee, Friends of the Thomas Balch Library and Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) the “Frederick Douglass Elementary Roundtable & Reflection Day” is open to anyone with an appreciation for local history. This event will include both presentations and a roundtable conversation.


The event sponsors are hoping to find as many Douglass students and staff as possible in order to preserve the school’s educational and social legacy. An RSVP is requested by Friday, October 14th. (Organizers need to know how many staff to have present.)
