(Oct. 3, 2011) - Stone Bridge High School junior Matt Ashley, who had a record-breaking year for the Bulldogs, finished runner-up at the Liberty District two-day tournament and is tied for second at the Northern Region tournament at Twin Lakes after shooting a 75 Monday.
Liberty District champion Langley leads the two-day event with a 302, seven strokes better than Chantilly (309). Madison is third at 315 followed by South County (324), Herndon (328), South County (334), Lee (356), and Hayfield (369).
Langley's Chris Brugge shot a 74 to lead the trio of Ashley, teammate Derrick Paxton and Lee's Tyler Spears at 75. Just two strokes back of the lead sat a pack of six players that included Steve Aanstoos of Chantilly, Juhee Bae of Chantilly, Will Byrne of Langley, Ryan Hart of Yorktown, Shannon Brooks of Madison and Keon Ho Song of Centreville.
