Golf: Loudoun Athletes Take Three of Five Top Spots, Advance 5 to States at Region II Meet; Dominon 4th and Briar Woods 5th in Team Competition

Crozet (Oct. 3, 2011) - While Loudoun won't send any teams to the AA state golf tournament the area will be well represented as Loudoun athletes took three of the top five medalists spots and will send five onto States from the Region II tournament Monday held at the Old Trail Course.

Monticello took the team title with a 300 and Jefferson District foe Western Albemarle will also advance to States with a 306. Sherando was third at 310 followed by Dulles District teams Dominion (317) and Briar Woods (323).

While Evan Childress of Monticello won the low medalist honors with a 71, Dulles athletes were in the mix with Ryan Douglass of Heritage and Ian Hildebrand of Loudoun Valley both shooting 72. Kevin Archer of Monticello also shot 72 and Sam Stillwell of Dominion took the fifth and final medalist spot with a 73.

Also advancing to States were Erik Dulik of Dominion (74) and Adam Ochs of Briar Woods (74). The final individual to advance was Matt Fazenbaker of Millbrok with a 75.

Alec Gard of Tuscarora also shot 75 but did not advance on tiebreaker. Nick Vazzana of Briar Woods just missed States with a 76 as did Christian Fortier of Potomac Falls.
