Football: Briar Woods Clinches Share of Second Straight Dulles District Title with 37-0 Win at Loudoun Valley

(Oct. 30, 2011) - Briar Woods High School wrapped up a share of its second straight AA Dulles District football title Friday night with junior Cory Colder rushing for 210 yards and three scores in a 37-0 win at Loudoun Valley. The Falcons improved to 8-1 on the season and 7-0 in district. The defending VHSL Division 4 state champions have now won 19 of the past 20 games.

Briar Woods will host Loudoun County (6-1, 8-1) in a regular-season ending district showdown on Friday with the Raiders able to grab a share of the district title with a win.


The Falcons defense earned its fourth shutout of the season, holding Valley (2-5, 3-6) to just three first downs in the win and 58 total yards. Briar Woods, since giving up 14 points to Broad Run in the opener, has allowed just 26 totals points in the next eight games.

With Colder carrying the ball 25 times, the Falcons amassed 22 first downs and 306 total rushing yards. Sophomore quarterback Trace McSorley threw for 86 yards on 10 of 19 passing including two scores to junior Cam Serigne.
