Field Hockey: Middleburg's Caroline Fout Leads Foxcroft

(Oct. 5, 2011) - Watching Foxcroft School’s Caroline Fout play field hockey is like watching that commercial about the Energizer bunny – she keeps on going and going. A speedy and aggressive center midfielder, Fout is a major reason why the varsity is playing its best field hockey of the season. For her leadership and outstanding play, the junior from Middleburg has been named Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sept. 24.

“Caroline has been the playmaker,” says Varsity Coach and Athletic Director Michelle Woodruff. “She has superb ball control and distributes with ease. She is fast and smart and anticipates the ball well.

"Even though she hasn't scored, she has made it possible for us to get the ball into the circle and for the forwards to get lots of shots off. Her level of play in the game against Holy Child was very high.”


The field hockey varsity team is off to a 2-2 start, having won its only Delaney Athletic Conference game, with a 2-0 victory over rival Highland School in Warrenton, on Highland's turf field.

The daughter of Beth and Doug Fout, Caroline is also an outstanding rider and lacrosse player as well as a dormitory leader.
