Purcellville (Aug. 12, 2010) - Despite the loss of a half dozen players from last season, the Loudoun Valley High School golf team is again the team to beat in the AAA Cedar Run District as the Vikings captured the district's opening mini-tournament on Monday at Loudoun Golf and Country Club with a 303 team score.
Battlefield was second with a score of 306, followed by Heritage with 360 and Osbourn with 422.
Valley is defending its Cedar Run District regular season and tournament championships with a squad that lost five seniors to graduation and another player to new Woodgrove High School.
The Vikings were led by seniors Scott Davidson’s 71 and Tanner Welsh’s 74. Freshman Ian Hildebrand, playing in his second prep tournament, shot a one over par 73 for Valley.
