Golf Roundup: Loudoun County Improves to 3-0, Broad Run to 2-0 in Dulles Play; Park View Earns Big Win; SB Opens Liberty with Victory

(Aug. 24, 2010) - It was a full slate of prep golf on Monday in Loudoun as Dulles District frontrunner Loudoun County improved to 3-0 on the dual season with a 297-330 win over Freedom at South Riding and Broad Run went to 2-0 with a 336-341 win over Tuscarora at Lansdowne. Briar Woods also posted a 346-353 win over Woodgrove at Stoneleigh and Park View earned one of its first dual meet wins in years with a 313-321 win over Dominion at 1757. Stone Bridge opened the Liberty District season with a 162-174 win over TJ at Pinecrest.

Nick Vazanna led the Falcons (1-2) to their first Dulles District dual win on the year with a 77 and teammate Adam Ochs shot 84. Woodgrove was paced by Aaron Price's 79.

Patriot coach Larry Hinders Talks About the Dual Win

The Patriots won their first Dulles District dual match in several years with a season-best 313 highlighted by a 75 from Sam Ryan and a pair of 76's from Jake Wilton and Kirby Struhar. Dominion also had a good day, scoring 321 despite the absence of No. 1 Shelby Shote. Sam Stillwell led the Titans with a 77.

The Raiders broke 300 once again -- for the fourth time this season -- to improve to 3-0 in district while Freedom dropped to 2-1.

Michael Linville led County with a 69 with Brantley Kushner posting 74 and Andrew Brenneman and Matt Tomassone both at 77.

Chelsea Kim led Freedom with a 79 followed by Phil McQuitty at 82 and Jason Scrivo at 84.

Briar Woods at Charger Invitational
The Falcons placed fourth last week at the 18-team Charger Invitational at Virginia Oaks powered by Adam Ochs who shot a tournament low 34 in the rain-shortened nine-hole tournament. Host Chantilly won with a 149 and Briar Woods scored 165.
