Baseball: Play Ball! Babe Ruth 14-Year-Old World Series Starts in Purcellville Today

Purcellville (Aug. 21, 2010) - Play Ball! The Babe Ruth 14-Year-Old World Series opens today at Fireman's Field with a full slate of games including Virginia state champions Winchester playing at 5 p.m. against Lexington, Ky. and host Greater Loudoun taking on Bryant, Ark. at 8 p.m.

After the opening ceremonies this morning, Arlington, Mass. faces Waite Park, Minn. in the tournament's opener at 11 a.m. followed by Williamsport, Penn. vs. Tallahassee, Fla. at 2 p.m.

Home Run Derby
There will be a Home Derby on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday evenings. Check back to VivaLoudoun for more details.

Greater Loudoun Lions: Let Them Eat Steak!
Greater Loudoun Lions manager Mike Stup told his players at their last tournament if they would win he would buy them a steak dinner and of course the hungry players went out and won. Now Stup has upped the ante for the host team as he has promised them a dinner at Ruth Chris Steakhouse if they can win three games or more in the World Series.

"I don't them if we win less than that, maybe we are looking at Ponderosa," joked Stup.
