Golf Roundup: Broad Run, Dominion, Park View and Potomac Falls Score Dulles Wins

(Aug. 27, 2010) - Broad Run High School has taken its lumps in tournament play this season but the Spartans improved to 3-0 in Dulles District duals with a three-stroke win over Briar Woods at Lansdowne on Thursday. Dominion derailed Freedom by 14 strokes at Trump National, 157-171, and in narrow victories, Park View edged Woodgrove by eight strokes at Stoneleigh and Potomac Falls edged Tuscarora by four strokes at Raspberry Falls.

Also on Wednesday, Stone Bridge improved to 2-0 in Liberty District Duals win a win over South Lakes.

Broad Run 167, Briar Woods 170 at Lansdowne
Adam Ochs and Nick Vazzana shot a 36 for Briar Woods but Broad Run had the depth with Jake Wohlgemuth (39), Danny Capretti (40), Sloan Meadows (42), and Mitch Pittman and Shea Bargiel (46 each) in the 9-hole contest.
Dominion 157, Freedom 171 at Trump National
With No. 1 Shelby Shote out of town, the Titans still had plenty of power to beat Freedom with Richard Boudreau and Sam Stillwell each shooting 38 and Taylor Newman (40) and Erik Dulik (41) just behind. Jason Scrivo led the Eagles with 40 followed by Andrew Lamont (43), Billy Ferrell ( 44) and Phil McQuitty (44) in the 9-hole contest.

Park View 178, Woodgrove 186 at Stoneleigh
Woodgrove's Aaron Price was the low medalist with a 40 but Park View won its second straight Dulles dual after a drought of several years. Leading the Patriots were Kirby Struhar with a 42 and Billy Leckemby with 43.
Potomac Falls 161, Tuscarora 165 at Raspberry Falls
The Panthers got a 39 from Christian Fortier and a 39 from Matt Byrd. Also for PFalls, Matt Lasik and James Collins each shot 42. Tuscarora was led by Jordan Schreder's 40 and a 41 from Phillip Corcoran and Caleb Keel. Alec Gard rounded out the scoring with a 43 for the Huskies.
Stone Bridge 164, South Lakes 186 at Belmont CC
Anthony Kelly and A.J. Arth both carded 39 for the Bulldogs in the 9-hole contest. Matt Ashley and David Israel each scored 43 to round out SB's scoring.
