Football: Jessop Throws Three TDs as Griffis Opens Broad Run Coaching Debut With Shutout

(Aug. 31, 2010) - Connor Jessop threw for three touchdowns and 173 yards on 9 of 11 passing and picked up another 57 yards rushing to make Matt Griffis a winner in his Broad Run High School coaching debut as the Spartans shut out Fauquier, 21-0, Friday in Ashburn.

While Griffis was making his debut the win was nothing new for the Spartans as it continued their 29-yard winning streak overall, which includes back-to-back Division 4 state titles, and was the school's 31st straight regular-season victory.

Jessop, who led Broad Run to the state title last year as a sophomore threw TD passes to Steven Field (56 yards), Matt Preziotti (23 yards) and Caleb Lindsey (44 yards).

Griffis took over the Broad Run program after Mike Burnett left to start the Tuscarora High School program. Griffis had been a long-time offensive coordinator under Mickey Thompson at Park View and then Stone Bridge.
