Basebal: Greater Loudoun Blanked by Arlington, Mass. but Lions Can Advance with Win Tonight

Purcellville (Aug. 24, 2010) - Greater Loudoun was blanked, 6-0, on Monday by Arlington, Mass. in the Babe Ruth baseball 14-Year-Old World Sereis but the host Lions (1-2) can advance out of pool play with a win tonight against Vancouver, Wash. (1-1). First pitch is slated for 8 p.m. at Fireman's Field.

The California team improved to 2-0 on the tournament and has scored 31 runs already. A showdown with unbeaten Tallahassee (2-0) looms at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning with first place in the American Division pool at stake.
Waite Park MN 3, Vancouver WA 2
The Minnesota team improved to 3-0 on the tournament and clinched first place in the National Division. After a bye tonight and a final pool game against Bryant AR on Wednesday, the Minnesota crew will have another day off on Thursday and then play Friday at 5:30 p.m. in the semifinals.
Williamsport PA 12, Winchester VA 7
The Virginia state champions fall to 0-3 in the tournament and can not advance out of pool play.
Arlington MA 6, Loudoun VA 0
Loudoun failed to score despite having six runners in scoring position in the first four innings but the host team had one runner thrown out trying to steal third and another runner tagged out at the plate on an inning ending double play.
