Bottom 7th: Loudoun's last chance. The Lions are down to their final out when pinch hitter Brady Kaplan walks to bring up the tying run but Jake Lewis ends it with a strikeout for a well earned victory with 6.1 inning of relief. Final score: Vancouver 8, Loudoun 6.

Top 7th: Carlyon retires the side in order. Vancouver 8, Loudoun 6.


Bottom 6th: Lorenzo Calderon walks to start the inning but he is thrown out trying to steal second. Loudoun's World Series life is now down to 3 outs.

Top 6th: Jake Lewis collects his 3rd hit of the night with 1 out and steals second with 2 outs against Loudoun reliever Ethan Carlyon. Cleanup hitter Justin Aspon hits a ball to short. Aspon might have beat the throw to first but the ball bounced past the 1B for an error, allowing Lewis to score the go ahead run. James Brooks then lashes a ball to right-center that gets into the gap for an RBI triple. Vancouver has now scored 5 of its 8 runs with 2 outs. Vancouver 8, Loudoun 6

Bottom 5th: Loudoun goes down in order. Vancouver 6, Loudoun 6.

Top 5th: Vancouver comes back to tie the game at 11:11 p.m. (past my bedtime) with Brooks Hanson hitting a 2-out single to RF. The hit scores one run easily and Loudoun looks to have the tying run out at the plate to end the inning but the throw is bobbled as James Brooks slides across the plate. Vancouver's No. 8 and No. 9 bitters have combined for 5 RBIs in the game. Vancouver 6, Loudoun 6.

Bottom 4th: Loudoun adds to their lead thanks to a 1. -out walk to Brandon Grayson followed by a double by Josh Sweet. That put 2 runners in scoring position and Lorenzo Calderon drove in Grayson with an RBI groundout to short. The Lions did leave 2 more runners on base for a total of 7 stranded in 4 innings. Loudoun 6, Vancouver 4.

Top 4th: Frazier sets the Vancouver top 3 jitters down in order.

Bottom 3rd: Loudoun jumps back ahead with 2 runs. Brandon Grayson started the rally with a deep triple to CF. Josh Sweet picked up his second RBI of the game with a slow roller infield hit to short. After a walk and fielding error loaded the bases for Loudoun, pitcher Reid Frazier helped his own cause with a safety squeeze bunt to score Sweet from third to put the Lions ahead. Lewis halted the rally by leaving the bases loaded with an inning ending strikeout. Loudoun 5, Vancouver 4.

Top 3rd: Josh Wilkerson collects Vancouver's 7th hit and steals second but Frazier strands him. Vancouver 4, Loudoun 3.

Bottom 2nd Inning: Loudoun goes in order. Vancouver 4, GL 3

Top 2nd Inning: Vancouver storms back with 4 runs to take the lead by sending 9 men to the plate. Vancouver picked 5 hits in the outburst including a double and 2-run triple. That triple was picked up by Kaiden Grotte who had the rough 1st inning pitching. Loudoun did throw a runner out at the plate in the inning and Ethan Calderon made a nice catch in left to end the inning with 2 runners on base. Vancouver 4 GL 3

Bottom 1st: Loudoun needs a win tonight or else their World Series is over and the Lions come roaring out scoring 3 runs courtesy of 3 walks, a hit batter, 2 wild pitches, a throwing error, a stolen base and an sac fly RBI by Josh Sweet. Vancouver needing a win like Loudoun to keep their dream alive replaces starter Kaiden Grotte with 2 outs in the 1st with Jake Lewis who strikes out a hitter to end the inning with 2 runners in scoring position.
