Robert Morris University is located on a 230-acre residential campus just 15 minutes from downtown Pittsburgh. The lacrosse program was started six years ago by current coach Bear Davis. While there was not even a club program before that, Davis has grown the Division I program to a 10-5 record in 2010 including wins against Penn State, Ohio State, and Air Force.
Playing in the Northeast Conference, Robert Morris is one of the top offenses in the nation, averaging nearly 16 goals per game, and they are getting a player in Madigan who knows how to find the back of the net.
Leading Broad Run to a Dulles District title in 2010, Madigan scored 65 goals with 39 assists, finishing the year No. 3 in scoring for the Washington Post leader charts. He also led the team with 71 groundballs.
For his achievements, Madigan was named Washington Post All-Met honorable mention, first team Loudoun Extra, first team all-district and all-region. During the season he earned Washington Post All-Met player of the Week and ESPN Rise Player of the Week awards.
Madigan’s 2010 summer camps and tournaments schedule saw him playing in nearly 40 games from June 23 thru early August. He played in two recruiting camps - Top 205 at University of Maryland and Blue Chip Elite at Bryant University in Providence, RI. He also played for the Virginia Lacrosse Club coached by Justin Fitzgerald (Robinson HS) and Jeff Lewandowski (Loudoun Valley HS). Virginia Lacrosse Club competed at the Brine Shootout in Baltimore and Patriot Games outside of Philadelphia.
Madigan, a defensive back on Broad Run's back-to-back VHSL Division 4 state championship football teams, is currently a defensive leader for the 10-1 Spartans who play Friday night at Louisa in the Region II semifinals.
