Football: Six Loudoun Teams Head to the Playoffs
(Nov. 5, 2010) - Loudoun will send half of its 12 teams into the regional playoffs next week as the regular season ended on a chilly night Friday.
*Stone Bridge (10-0) completed yet another perfect regular season and wrapped up a Liberty District title with a 49-13 win over South Lakes. The Bulldogs will be the top seed in the Northern Region Division 5 playoffs with homefield advantage.
*Briar Woods (8-2) finished a perfect 6-0 Dulles District season with a 54-13 win over Dominion to earn the school's first ever district football title. The Falcons will host a Region II Division 4 playoff game next week, possibly hosting Fauquier.
*Loudoun Valley (7-3) fell to Battlefield, 41-0, but the Vikes have still clinched a Northwest Region Division 5 playoff spot. The final numbers will have to be crunched to see if the Vikes are at home or on the road.
*Broad Run (9-1) was idle but got a boost when Millbrook upset Sherando Friday. This likely will give Broad Run a home playoff date on Friday in the Region II Division 4 playoffs, possible hosting Sherando.
*Dominion (4-6), despite the loss Friday and under. 500 record, the Titans head to the playoffs for the first time in school history. The Titans may be the 7th seed and could travel to Warren County or Millbrook.
*Park View (4-6), like Dominion, will make the playoffs at 4-6. The Patriots fought off Freedom Friday for a 34-19 win. The Pats will likely move ahead of Dominion but all the other teams in D3 ahead of them won so look for a 6th seed and a trip to Warren County or Millbrook in the first round.
