(Nov. 5, 2010) - The Region II volleyball bracket -- an unusual 11-team tournament -- is almost set and it appears that Saturday's Dulles District consolation final between Briar Woods and Freedom may have more riding on the line than the title game between host Loudoun County and Broad Run.
Win or lose, three-time defending AA state champion Loudoun County (21-1) are locked into the region's top seed and will receive a bye into Tuesday's quarterfinals where they will host the winner of Monday's match between James Wood and the Dulles District's No. 4 seed.
Win or lose, Broad Run (15-6) will host Fluvanna or Louisa, the No. 3 seed from the Jefferson District, Monday night. If the Spartans win, they will travel to Sherando on Tuesday in the quarterfinals.
Rivals Briar Woods and Freedom will play for the No. 3 seed in the Dulles Saturday. A win means a trip to Fauquier on Monday and a possible match Tuesday at Western Albemarle. A loss means a trip to James Wood and a possible match Tuesday at Loudoun County.
