Richmond (Nov. 20, 2010) - Loudoun County High School captured its fourth consecutive VHSL girls volleyball AA state title on Saturday at VCU's Siegel Center with a sweep over Grafton. Stone Bridge fell in the AAA finals, 3-1, to Kellam. See full Live play-by-play below.

*SB two blocks during a long rally but SB goes wide again off net. 6-4 SB.

*Kellam again with an error ... didn't I say rare errors? Oh well, ... 6-2 SB now!
*Another Kellam ball out as they have lost a little focus and SB gains confidence. 5-2 SB.
*Heyn again is all over James, she puts the ROOF on James for a 4-2 SB lead.
*Kellam long again, this time a nice Ackermann serve set up, 3-2 SB leads.

Game 2 starts
*James finishes the game with a tip. 25-22 Kellam.
*Ackermann fools the block with tip. 24-22 Kellam.
*James had been quiet for Kellam but she blasts a kill into the backrow to bring game point. 24-21.
*Longest rally of the match and Kellam is too long over the SB block. 23-21 Kellam.
*SB block looked like a winner but Kellam picked up and SB touches the net for vio. 23-20.
*After Bulldog timeout, SB with back-to-back points, Ackermann kill and Kellam attack long. 22-20.
*Another SB error as the attack goes wide off the antenna ... 22-18 Kellam.
*Bulldogs caught up and then lost the mo as they get called for double hits, 21-18 Kellam.
*Darden huge again, this time she fools block by going down line, 20-18 Kellam
*Sydney Darden with key tip for Kellam, they retake lead 19-18.
*Beckham out of the timeout ties it up at 18-18 by rolling an ace off the net.
*Ackermann drops an offspeed kill in as Stone Bridge appears to have settled the nerves of their first state title appearance and it is 18-17 Kellam with the Knights calling timeout to stop the run.
*Beckham to serve and drops an ace! 18-15 Kellam. Then on a long rally, amazing Amy Christensen dig and a vio. on Kellam. 18-16 Kellam.
*Beckham so smart, senses block and drops a tip into the "block hole" ... 18-14 Kellam
*Beckham once crosscourt but it is picked up so she does it again. Kellam 17-13. SB then called for a push during a rally ... 18-13 Kellam.
*Beckham saves a set that went array, scores a kill. 16-12 but then Bulldogs for net vio. Kellam up 17-12.
*Ryan Ackermann with backrow kill but Kellam tip scores ... 16-11 Kellam as they keep this cushion.
*Kellam point but Heyn, a one-woman wrecking crew with the kill from MB. 15-10.
*Heyn again big in the middle. This junior came to play ... 14-9 Kellam.
*SB loses a 50-50 ball at the net they normally win and then a 2-hits violation as Kellam goes back up 14-8.
*Heyn with emotion and fire as she blocks a ball back ... Kellam up 12-7 and Heyn then poaches a stray pass and the Stone Bridge fans are cheering! 12-8 now Kellam and timeout for the Knights.
*Kellam wide on the attack after they had scored, 12-6 Kellam
*Beckham with another big kill as she tries to keep SB in game 1, 11-5 Kellam.
*Mariah Branley with a huge dig and Christine Beckham with crosscourt kill but Kellam right back, 11-4 Knights.

AAA Game has Started and Stone Bridge has quickly fallen behind 8-2 to Kellam with a kill by Alex Heyn as the lone Bulldog highlight ... the Knights from Virginia Beach have been led by Cheyanne James and a big block up front. Timeout Dawgs!
AA State Title Game Live!
Loudoun County wins a 4th straight AA State Title! Sweeps Grafton!
*Strange with a bomb in the middle. 24-16 Match point. Dormio and Arigo, 2 seniors, team to give the team a 4th straight state title as they help raiders to 25-16 win and sweep
*Grafton scoring more as LC does not have all starters in but it is still 22-16 LC. Strange with a kill, she is still on the court and it is 23-16 LC.
*Grafton with two points as Raiders have almost put everybody in uniform onto the court. A nice touch by the coaching staff. Kelsey Anderson getting work as is Megan Fox.
*Grafton with a point but Strange from the back to kill, 21-12 LC.
*Grafton scores but another error and LC is rolling now to title No. 4 ... 20-11 LC leads.
*Everybody into the act as Huewe and Harrison with back-to-back kills. 17-10 LC. Another Grafton error and its 18-10 LC.
*Grafton and hall fight back with two points, 14-10 but Strange with a kill in the middle that even has Grafton students "ooohhing", 15-10
*Grafton pressing now, wide on the attack. LC up 14-8 and Grafton uses up a timeout.
*Grafton another great point but this time Strange comes up big to end a long rally, 13-8 LC
*This is how it goes now, Grafton makes a nice play but then service error. 12-7 LC.

*Grafton gets a point on 4-hits by LC but LC working everybody into the line-up gets a kill from Rachel Harrison. 9-6 LC

*Grafton ties at 5-5 but Strange with another kill from backrow, this time a monster shot off the left line. 6-5 LC

Game 3: LC up 3-2 quick as Strange has 2 big kills and Taylor Huewe has a block.
*Kline with a backrow kill but after a long rally, Grafton makes an attack error (again) and LC wins 25-18 for a 2-0 lead ... one game away from a 4th straight state title for Raiders
*Grafton saves game point, 24-17 but seven more to look at
*Senior Arigo with a sick offbalanced crosscourt kill, 23-16 and now game point is near as Kathleen Horvath serves a winner, 24-16 LC!

*Another Grafton point for three in a row. 21-14 and they win another rally in the middle, now 21-15 and Grafton trying to build a second life but they smack a ball just long and it is 22-15 LC.
*Grafton with the serve after a point and Kline drives an ace to the floor. 21-13 Raiders.
*Another unforced error by Grafton and they get a point back but Raider freshman Phillips with a huge kill ... another 3 years for her to come back to Richmond. 21-11 Raiders.
*Grafton another error, another timeout and you could almost hear the VivaLoudoun Fox drop his pin as it got deathly quiet here ... 19-10 LC.
*Strange in her bid to add State Player of the Year to her resume with back-to-back aces! 18-10 Raiders and rolling!
*Kline with a kill for Grafton. 15-10 but Grafton again makes an error so it goes to 16-10 LC.
*Hall another kill as she is getting more touches than any player on either team but Grafton gives it back on service error. 15-9 LC.
*Who you gonna call to stop that run? Strange comes up big in the middle, a kill and now Raiders up 14-8.
*Sorensen for Grafton offspeed kill. 13-7. Two-hits LC, it is Grafton's first run, now 13-8 LC.
*Hall for Grafton gets a kill off the line. 13-6.
*Grafton hitting error. LC up now 13-5.
*Net violation on a Grafton really that looked like it was going to be their point. 12-5 LC.
*Grafton gets a point but Rachel Arigo for LC gets a nice kill. 11-5 LC and they can now trade points if they like.
*Grafton gets a net violation and another hit long trying to avoid LC block. now 9-4 Raiders. And yet again, Grafton goes long as the block for LC has the Bulldog offense in fits ... now 10-4 LC and Grafton calls time out as their season is starting to slip away at the hands of LC, a team they have lost to in the state finals two of the past three years.
*Grafton goes over the block but too high, out of bounds for LC point. 7-4 Raiders.
*Grafton wide on the attack, 6-4 Raiders.
*Kline hard off the block, LC leads 5-4.

Game 2 about to start -- kind of quiet here ... tough to draw a fan base on the Saturday before schools are out a week.
*Dormio ends a rally with a kill to bring game point. And Kirby from the right side goes down the line to win the game 25-16 Loudoun County.
*Grafton gets a kill but Strange with a huge block followed by her own service winner and it is 23-15. Hall scores to make it 23-16.
*Grafton scores back-to-back points to make it 20-13. Make it three straight as LC has relaxed a bit. Dormio with a tool of the block to make it 21-14 LC.
*Serafin with a service winner and then Sammy Dormio with a kill off the block to make it 20-11 LC.
*Strange the Dulles District and Region II Player of the Year has been far from overpowering at the net but is out-thinking the Bulldogs and tips another shot to the floor prompting Grafton's second timeout as LC has a commanding 18-11 lead here in game 1 of AA state title game!
*Strange with a crafty kill to make it 14-11 and then Gabby Serafin scores a service winner and it is 15-11 LC! Strange with another smart kill and then Strange on the block as Raiders stretch lead to 17-11!
*Britt Sorensen tools the Raiders block for a point for Grafton, LC up 13-11.
*Kline for Grafton is too quick for block to cut LC lead to 13-10.
*Grafton scores on a service winner but Kirby gets the point back on a kill from the left side, 13-9 LC
*Morgan Kline gets Grafton back with a block, 12-8 LC
*So much for that timeout as Leiter drops another ace! 12-7 LC
*Confusion for Grafton as they let a ball fall and the Bulldogs call a time out trailing 3-time defending state champion Loudoun County, 11-7

*With Colleen Bowlds serving, Grafton goes wide for an error and then long and Bowlds adds an ace for a 4-0 LC lead

5:38 Raiders, making 5th straight title appearance, are being introduced with the house lights down and spotlight on ... only they are playing Mission Impossible theme music ... ummm, 3 straight state titles for these Raiders ... really not an impossible mission for a 4th straight.
5:24 The Loudoun media is in the house ... Carl "Libero or Leave'em" Lukat of the Loudoun Times-Mirror is at press row (he was the VivaLoudoun Fox co-pilot today on I-95) and Matt "Grizzly Adams" Brooks is at press row where I believe he has been sleeping for three days ... Did we say Live! Well they just finished the Single A awards ceremony and now it is 15 minutes until Loudoun Count High School plays for a 4th straight state title against Grafton. That is right ... four. A 4-peat or as we are calling it "4-Pete's Sake"
