Sterling (Nov. 12, 2010) - Potomac Falls High School senior Heather Keifer signed her Letter of Intent Friday morning to play softball next year at James Madison University.
The scouting report on Kiefer is a pitcher that can toss it in the mid 60's and has excellent pitch and game control. She has a drop ball/rise ball with a change up and other pitches to keep batters off balance.
"I get ahead in the count quickly, over 50 percent of my counts per game are 0-2 or 1-2 on the batter, and when the batters don't strike out, they often have an infield ground out," reports Kiefer.
She was named an ESPN Rise Regional Player of the Week in 2010 when she set a school record with 22 strikeouts in a 1-0 win in 12 innings against Loudoun County, followed by the school's first ever perfect game in a 13-0 win over Freedom. In that game, Kiefer had two doubles and drove in four runs to help her cause.
