"As a start-up we have focused on the content and done very little marketing and advertising so our site traffic has grown mostly via word of mouth. It blows me away that we have reached one million page views so quickly and we are on pace for nearly two million page views for 2010," said VivaLoudoun.com editor and founder Dan Sousa.
VivaLoudoun has drawn 1,017,941 page views since starting from 166,921 visits, including 52,416 uniques. Since the start of 2010, the site, which covers all (soon to be) 12 high schools in Loudoun, has logged 699,214 page views with 110,540 visits and 36,850 uniques. In the past 30 days alone the media site has received 184,711 page views from 31,489 visits and 11,647 uniques.
Sousa was formerly the editor and founder of LoudounPrepSports.com and LoudounYouthSports.com.
"When we started LoudounPrepSports in 2005 it took us three years to develop this amount of site traffic and we experienced growth for 36 straight months with that site," said Sousa, who sold LoudounPrepSports to DigitalSports in 2008. "Our following on Facebook and Twitter has really helped build our relationship with our fans and created a fun community of people who not only follow our coverage but help contribute to it."
Dan continuously covers Loudoun county sports like no other. He's a consummate professional and should be very proud of this achievement. This site and Dan on Facebook are the first place I go for any local sports news. Thanks Dan, and keep up the great work.
