Viva Loudoun: Gayle King of Century 21 Redwood Realty to Sponsor State Coverage
(June 6, 2012) - Gayle King of Century 21 Redwood Realty, a long-time supporter of high school athletics in Loudoun County, has agreed to sponsor Viva Loudoun's coverage of the 2012 Virginia High School League tournaments this week at Radford University (AA) and Westfield High School (AAA).
"We can't thank Gayle enough for stepping forward to help Viva Loudoun's coverage of the six or seven teams that will be playing for state titles this weekend," said Viva Loudoun editor Dan Sousa. "This is an exciting age of athletics in Loudoun County!"

News: VivaLoudoun Names Noelle Dormio as College Corner Editor
(Nov. 5, 2011) - VivaLoudoun announced today that Noelle Dormio is the new editor of the website's College Corner.
"We are looking to expand our coverage of all the great things that Loudoun athletes are doing in college so we are excited to have Noelle leading our college coverage," said VivaLoudon editor Dan Sousa.
Dormio serves as Controller to Connectivity Solutions Inc. She has over 15 years experience providing financial advice to numerous companies and non-profit organizations. She started with CSI in July of 2010 bringing processes to help grow revenues, increase office efficiencies and decrease burdens.
"As the mother of a collegiate athlete, I not only want College Corner to be a place to showcase my daughter and her former teammates achievements, but a spot where all of Loudoun can find out about what our great athletes are doing at the next level," said Dormio.

Football: VivaLoudoun Seeks Sponsor for You Pick'Em Contest
(Aug. 24, 2011) - VivaLoudoun is gearing up for our annual high school football You Pick"Em contest and we are seeking a local business to sponsor this year's fun competition.
This year, the winner of the contest will not only receive $100 but will also get $100 donated to the Loudoun high school booster club of their choice. In addition, the runner-up for 2011 will win $50 and third place will net $25. Weekly winners will earn VivaLoudoun t-shirts.
A panel of media experts will also pick the games each week with the winner of the end of the year having $100 donated to a charity of their choice.

VivaLoudoun High School Sports Year in Review: Spring 2011

(June 30, 2011) - Four years ago Broad Run’s Whitney Church and Ellie Zoepfl were freshmen rooming together at the VHSL AA girls soccer state finals wondering what the title game would bring the next day at Radford University. The next day it was Zoepfl scoring the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Courtland.
For Church and Zoepfl and the Spartans it was just the start of four-year run at Radford as they have remained the top team in the state for their entire high school careers, capped by a 1-0 win over Blacksburg in the 2011 finals in June.

VivaLoudoun High School Sports Year in Review: Winter 2010-11

(June 29, 2011) - The Potomac Falls boys basketball team not only repeated their Division 4 state title but the Panthers did it once again in dramatic fashion. In 2009-10 the Panthers became the first Loudoun boys team to ever capture a state hoops championship with a double overtime win in the finals and in March the Panthers repeated with Pete Simoneau’s 3-pointer giving them the 58-55 win over Hidden Valley with five seconds left.
It was expected that the Panthers would be good with all five starters returning and a 10-member senior class and they made good on that promise with a magical 30-1 season behind the play of senior Lukas Mihailovich and 6-foot-7 junior Greg Graves.

(June 28, 2011) - Good-naturally called the “Backyard Brawl” the football rivalry between Ashburn neighbors Briar Woods and Broad Run was the hardest ticket in town as a standing room only crowd saw the two teams tangle twice at Briar Woods in the fall – with the Falcons stopping the visiting Spartans 33-game winning streak with a 20-13 win in the regular season and then a thrilling 24-21 win in the Region II Division 4 finals.
For Broad Run (11-2) it was the Spartans only two losses of the season under first-year coach Matt Griffis, who left powerhouse Stone Bridge as offensive coordinator to take over the Broad Run reigns after Mike Burnett departed on the heels of back-to-back state titles to start the new Tuscarora program in Leesburg.

(June 12, 2011) - Well we are still collecting our breath from a great two days (it seemed longer at times ... especially during weather delays!) at Radford where we crowned two more state champions: Briar Woods High School softball and Broad Run High School girls soccer (4 straight for the Spartans!).
Now it is our turn to do a little NPR-style pledge drive: We need your donations to help keep our sports coverage of Loudoun afloat so if you appreciated what we did this school year ... VivaLoudoun Update: And We Are Back ... Almost!
(May 13, 2011) - Talk about Friday the 13th. VivaLoudoun.com is published on Google's Blogger platform,which until the past 24 hours has been spot on, but the service experienced a glitch which not only prevented us from posting new articles since Thursday at 4:30 p.m. but all our content posted since Tuesday night was taken offline.
Now we have the availability to publish again ... yeah! But our content is still AWOL. Hopefully it will reappear this evening sometime ... in the meantime, we will try and play a little catch-up on playoff lacrosse and tennis before heading out to the big softball game at Stone Bridge where the Bulldogs play McLean with a chance to force a tie in the Liberty District race on the last night of the regular season.

Cheers Sports and VivaLoudoun Athletes of the Month for December 2010

Ashburn (Jan. 20, 2011) - Cheers Sports and VivaLoudoun.com released today their first Athletes of the Month selections for the 2010-11 winter sports season. The December 2010 honorees met at Lifetime Fitness in Ashburn on Jan. 16 for a photo shoot.
Each month VivaLoudoun editor Dan Sousa selects the top athletes from across Loudoun's 12 public high schools for the Cheers Sports Athletes of the Month program. For December 2010, a total of just five athletes per each of the six winter sports (boys basketball, girls basketball, gymnastics, wrestling, boys swim, girls swim) were selected with the 30 athletes coming from 11 different high schools.
"We had amazing participation for the photo shoot this month with 24 out of 30 athletes able to make the shoot at Lifetime Fitness," said VivaLoudoun editor and founder Dan Sousa.
