Lacrosse: Broad Run's Andy Londos Verbally Commits to Division I Mount Saint Mary's

Ashburn (Oct. 14, 2009) – Andy Londos, a senior at Broad Run High School, has verbally committed to attend Mount Saint Mary’s University next fall, where he plans to continue his lacrosse career.

Londos was a leader on Broad Run’s 2009 Championship lacrosse team that won the Dulles District and Region II Championships.

Broad Run finished the season with its first ever trip to the Virginia Final Four after beating Loudoun Valley in the first round of the state playoffs. Londos was a leading scorer on the team with 88 points (49 goals and 39 assists). He also contributed as a team leader in many ways. Londos was instrumental in key Broad Run wins including scoring the winning goal with six seconds left in the Dulles District Championship.


"Andy is a leader with his play on the field. He is a coachable individual that has the potential to be a great college player”, says former Broad Run lacrosse head coach Phil Truiett. “I look forward to seeing him mature at that level.”

Mount Saint Mary’s University, located in Emmitsburg, MD, competes in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with teams that include Providence, Saint Joseph's, and Siena universities.

The Mount also plays out of league contests against Virginia, Navy, Georgetown, and Johns Hopkins.

“My staff and I reviewed Andy's ability this summer and were very pleased with his size, quickness, and footwork. He has great vision and sees the field well, something very important at the D-1 level as the ball moves much quicker.” reports Mount Saint Mary’s lacrosse head coach Tom Gravante. “Athletically, he's solid and I feel his best and strongest games are in his future here when he gains strength. None the less, we are very excited about his verbal commitment to attend MSMU next Fall.”

Londos lives in Ashburn Village, with his parents, Tom and Sue Londos.
