Boys Lacrosse: Dulles, Cedar Run, Liberty District Updated Standings, Skinny on Regular Season Race

(April 26, 2012) - The boys lacrosse regular season races feature teams unbeaten in league play with Dominion and Briar Woods (Dulles District), Battlefield (Cedar Run District) and Langley (Liberty District) all at the top of the standings.


Dulles District
The Leaders: Dominion (6-0 in district), Briar Woods (5-0)
The Contenders: Loudoun County (4-1), Loudoun Valley (3-1)
Still Alive: Woodgrove (3-2)
Key Match-ups: Loudoun County vs. Briar Woods (tonight); Loudoun County vs. Dominion (Apr. 30); Briar Woods vs. Dominion (May 3); Loudoun Valley vs. Woodgrove (May 4); Briar Woods vs. Loudoun Valley (May 7); 
At Stake: Regular season title, top seed in Dulles District tournament, automatic bid and better seeding in Region II tournament as Dulles top team. 3 teams will advance to regionals.
The Skinny: The district title race is shaping up for a winner-take-all game May 3 in Sterling as the Titans host Briar Woods. Loudoun County and Loudoun Valley, however, are both just a game out. The Raiders can make some noise when they travel to Briar Woods tonight and then face Dominion on Monday.

Cedar Run District
The Leader: Battlefield (5-0)
The Contenders: Stonewall Jackson (3-1), Broad Run (3-2)
Still Alive: Freedom (2-3), Osbourn (1-3)
Key Match-ups: Battlefield vs. Stonewall (tonight); Battlefield vs. Broad Run (Apr. 28); Stonewall vs. Broad Run (Apr. 30).
At Stake: Regular-season title, top seed and bye in Cedar Run District tournament, automatic bid and better seeding in Northwest Region tournament at Cedar Run top team. 3 teams will advance to regionals.
The Skinny: Battlefield went through the first round of district play unbeaten and the Bobcats can take a 2 game in lead in district play with a win tonight against Stonewall. Broad Run must be Battlefield Saturday to climb back into the race.

Liberty District
The Leader: Langley (5-0)
The Contenders: Stone Bridge (4-1), TJ (3-1)
Still Alive: South Lakes (3-2)
Key Match-ups: Langley vs. TJ (Apr. 27); Langley vs. South Lakes (Apr. 30).
At Stake: Top seed in the Liberty District tournament and automatic bid and better seeding into Northern Region tournament. 4 teams advance to regionals.
The Skinny: Langley can clinch a share of the top spot with a win against TJ Friday.
