Trenary graduated from Clarke in 1986 and earned two varsity letters in basketball and three in football, where he co-led the team and area in interceptions his senior year. In track he was a district champion in the high jump his junior year and placed sixth in the Region B meet, qualifying for Sates. His senior year he was district runner-up. He was awarded the outstanding male senior athlete award by coaches.
After college, Trenary returned to Clarke where he was the head coach for boys and girls track at Johnson-Williams Middle School. He was also Clarke's JV football and basketball coach at times as well as the school's head strength coach. Trenary was an assistant varsity football coach from 1991 to 1993 and then became head varsity football coach from 1994 to 2000. He also became the school's athletic director in 1997 and remained AD until leaving for Heritage High School in Leesburg in 2002. This year Trenary moved to Woodgrove.
As Clakre's AD, Trenary started the school's wrestling program as well as JV softball and girls JV soccer. He also developed Clarke's academic monitoring program for athletes and he developed the athlete drug testing program. Trenary turned the Clarke County Track Invitational into a top notch meet with 20 schools and, along with Frank Jurney, he started the Berryville Bluegrass series that helped bring in almost $20,000 yearly for the athletic program and athletic scholarships.
He helped in every phase of building the current football stadium, from working with contractors, to painting, planting grass seed, putting up the fence, and even having his football players pick up and remove rocks from the field.
Other members inducted Friday: Bill Martz, Bonnie Broy Dodson, Denny Longerbeam, Dwayne Dillow, Sean Munson and Brent Emmart.
