Football: Stone Bridge Moves to 7-0 with 28-10 Win at Stubborn Madison

(Oct. 17, 2010) - The Stone Bridge High School football team improved to 7-0 on the season with a 28-10 win at Madison Friday night, but for the first time since an opening 7-3 win at Westfield, the Bulldogs needed to play four quarters to put away an opponent.

Stone Bridge dominated the play, piling up 366 total yards, including 259 on the ground with Marcus Harris collecting 140 yards on 22 carries, but the Bulldogs had five fumbles on the night, three of them lost and because of that it was just 7-3 Stone Bridge heading into the final quarter. Madison, besides Phoebus, is the only team to beat Stone Bridge since the 2007 season.


The Bulldogs then took care of business with Harris breaking loose for a 37-yard score and Kyle Gouveia added a 1-yard touchdown. Spenser Rositano, who caught a 15-yard TD pass in the first quarter, returned an interception 33 yards for a score to make it 28-3.

Stone Bridge's first unite defense then gave up its first touchdown on the season but only have the Bulldogs fumbled the ball away inside their own 10.

Dexter Rogers intercepted two passes for Stone Bridge.

Notes: Harris now has 929 yards rushing on just 113 carries for an 8.2 average and 14 TDs. Brian Rody has thrown just one interception on the year with nine TDs. He is 43 of 79 for 843 yards. The Bulldogs have picked up 12 passes on defense in seven games. The Bulldogs have 22 sacks and 13 forced fumbles with Jon Allen picking up seven sacks and forcing six fumbles.
