Girls Soccer: Broad Run to Honor 3-Time AA State Champions at Halftime of Friday's Football Game

(Oct. 6, 2010) - The Broad Run High School girls soccer team, which won its third consecutive VHSL AA state title in the spring, will be recognized for their accomplishments at halftime of the Oct. 8 football game against Dominion.

The Spartans (21-2-1) completed an impressive 2010 season by becoming the first Virginia girls soccer program to win three consecutive titles since West Springfield’s run in the early 1990s.

After graduating eight seniors from the 2009 title team and seeing their state record-breaking unbeaten streak end at 51 games, the Spartans finished the season strong - winning their last 14 games, including a perfect run through the playoffs (outscoring opponents 20-0).

For the season: the team recorded 17 shutouts; outscored opponents 73-12; and has not lost to a AA opponent since 2007.
