Football: Video of Loudoun County's Game-Winning Play in Overtime

(Oct. 16, 2010) - In the video below, Loudoun County High School junior Antonio Rutherford has just collected a screen pass near the 23-yard line in overtime and then splits the defense and flies towards the end zone, breaking the plane of the goal line with the football in his arm out-stretched.

Rutherford's TD capped a 27-21 AA Dulles District comeback win for the Raiders, who trailed 14-0 early in the game and 21-7 at the half. Loudoun County sophomore quarterback Jake Lokey, making his first varsity start, threw for three scores in the win, including a 59-yard strike to sophomore Brad Szoka. Lokey finished 14 of 22 for 150 yards with two interceptions.

Senior Garrett Kranias caught seven passes for 40 yards including an 11-yard TD that tied the score at 21-21 with 5:58 still left in the third quarter. Kranias had the game's biggest play as he took the second half opening kickoff, broke several tackles, reversed his field and raced 70 yards for a score to cut the Titans halftime advantage to 21-14.

The Titans missed two field goals in the game, one from 39 yards with 7:55 left in the contest, and then in overtime, from 31 yards after Dominion senior running back Deandre Reaves lost 10 yards on a scramble from 3rd-and-goal from the 5. Reaves had 79 yards on 19 carries and two TDs in the first half when he went out with four minutes left before halftime after a hard hit to his hip area.

In the second half, Reaves played offense sparingly, picking up just one yard on seven carries, including three rushing attempts in Dominion's overtime possession. Titan's back-up running back Dashaun Wesley had 74 yards on nine carries, including a 59-yarder that set up Dominion's third first half TD with 1:01 left in the half. Wesley had to be helped off the field with about a minute left in the third quarter and did not return for the fourth quarter or overtime.

Dominion racked up 238 yards rushing on 60 carries in the game but the Titans manged just one yard passing on nine attempts. County was almost the opposite with just 41 yards rushing on 14 attempts.

Dominion falls to 2-2 in district and 3-4 overall while County improves to 1-2 and 3-4.
