South Riding (Dec. 11, 2009) - Kelsey Buchanan nearly notched a triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocks Thursday as No. 11 Freedom defeated a stubborn Liberty team, 61-53, to improve to 3-0 on the young season.
Dionna Scott added 18 points and six rebounds for Freedom. Jasmine Merritt and Brittani Poindexter chipped in with nine and six, respectively. Jessica Escorza dished eight assists while earning four rebounds and five points. Buchanan, who also had three steals in the win, is averaging 18.0 points and 12.6 rebounds per game for the defending VHSL Division 3 state champions which have moved up in classification to Division 4 this season.
