Updates on Ryan's Condition from his father:



Dec. 11: Ryan had a great day resting and healing. He really looks great! His heart rate has been quite relaxed and even. All his blood work was good. He had an ultrasound on his stomach and organs; all appear healthy. A follow-up CT scan shows the brain stem is healing nicely and the fluid build-up has dissipated. He remains in a coma and we are hopeful that he will someday wake.

Dec. 10: Ryan had a good run, beginning yesterday afternoon, without fever (27 hrs). Unfortunately, he's been "storming" for over 7 hours now and his fever's been in the 102's. He had 2 episodes this morning where his heart rate plummeted and they had to give him some medicine to bring it back up. Still, he seems so much healthier to us, and he might have these storming and heart rate issues for months. Thank you for your prayers!

Dec. 9: More encouraging response from Ryan! For the 1st time, BOTH pupils responded, albeit slightly, to direct light shined in them! We hope this continues more frequently in future assessments and also becomes stronger. Also (so far),he is having a stable, restful night. All vitals are ideal, his color's healthy, and breathing is calm/controlled. I can't quit kissing him on the forehead. Thank you EVERYONE for the prayers!


Dec. 8: The doctor just told us he has never seen a single instance of what occurred with Ryan in the 14 years he has been a brain doctor. Not only did the active stem bleeding stop, but it clotted and this clot has substantial diminished (from 21mm to 14mm across) in just 2 days! Miraculous! Thank you for praying for him. Please continue to pray for his complete healing in mind, body and spirit.

Dec. 7: It's been a month. It feels like a year. Ryan is doing well at the moment. His vital signs are all good. He gets morphine to calm his "storming", and it mostly helps. We hope for him to have a peaceful, healing, and uneventful day. His strength is something to behold. I see this fortitude in both my children. Neither willing to accept defeat. Neither shying away from challange; actually, they square off on it and meet it head on. Sue has shown a strength that only a mother could understand. She will stop at nothing for her children...
