Competitive Cheer: Stone Bridge Falls to Fairfax by 2 Points in AAA State Meet

Richmond (Nov. 14, 2009) - The Stone Bridge High School competitive cheer team fell just short Saturday of adding a fifth state title, finishing runner-up to Liberty District foe Fairfax by two points at the VHSL AAA state meet at VCU.

Fairfax won the meet with 261.5 points while Stone Bridge scored 259.5. North Stafford finished third.

The Bulldogs had edged Fairfax at this year's Northern Region meet, 263 to 262.5, as well as the Liberty District meet and at last year's 2008 VHSL state meet Stone Bridge won with a 261.5 score but on Saturday it was finally time for the Rebels to yell.

Stone Bridge collected state titles in 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2008.
