(Nov. 12, 2009) - As friends and family pray for the recovery of West Virginia student and former Broad Run High School standout athlete Ryan Diviney, seriously injured in an attack this weekend in Morgantown, there was hope on will be a long road to recovery as the 20-year-old has been acccpeted into the Shepard Center in Atlanta, the top rehab facility in the world.
In other news, Katie Mesmer, a Broad Run alum and great lacrosse athlete, reports that the group behind ryansrally.org will be at the Spartan home football game on Nov. 20, accepting donations and selling t-shirts to help the family pay for Diviney's care.
The latest updates on Ryan from his father, Ken Diviney:
Thurs. 7:30 p.m. Update: Still no word on MRI, but we did get some good news. He was accepted into Shepard Center in Atlanta when/if he is able to begin rehab. Thus is the best facility in the world for brain trauma recovery!
Thurs. 4 p.m. Update: Some news on the lung collapse. There was great concern that it might have been caused by a clot, which would have been awful. They are now comfortable that it is a result of the ventilator. They have inflated his lungs to hopefully prevent it again. Still no word on the MRI since he is getting a filter implanted that would catch any clots if they did develop. Rally!
