(Nov. 12, 2009) - The Loudoun County All-County High School Chorus will perform at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 14th, in the Heritage High School auditorium.
The Women's Sight-Reading Choir is under the direction of Dr. Deen Entsminger, a professor at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn. Entsminger is a composer, conductor and teacher. He has many pieces published, including some commissioned for different groups in Loudoun County.
The accompanist for the Women's Choir is Peter Uhlir.
Songs for the performance will be chosen by the director from the rehearsed pieces.
The Men's Chorus is under the direction of Jim Van Slyke. This is Van Slyke's second appearance with select choirs in Loudoun. He is a nationally recognized vocal coach and has voice studios in Northern Virginia and New York.Van Slyke is currently on tour in “The Sedaka Show.”
The accompanist for the Men's Chorus is Erin Qureshi. Songs to be performed will include “O Sifuni Mungu” by David Maddox and “Embraceable You” by George and Ira Gershwin, arranged by Jay Althouse.
The third choir that will perform Saturday is the Broadway Women's Chorus. This group will be directed by Rebecca Tyree, assistant professor of choral music education at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.Tyree is the immediate past president of the Virginia Chapter of the American Choral Director's Association.
The accompanist is Gary Fitzgerald. Selections will include “There's No Business Like Show Business” from “Annie Get Your Gun” and “Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat” from “Guys and Dolls.”
Nancy Riley, choral director at Heritage High School, is the host for the All-County event.

If you enjoy music and can make this event you will not be disappointed. You will be amazed at the vocal talent that resides in our schools. The most interesting part of this concert is that all of the kids come together to reherse this music as a group on Friday! Yes, the day before the performance. so in less than 24 hours they go from never preforming as a group to putting on an amazing show.
