Crew: Stone Bridge Crew Collecting the Medals

(May 10, 2012) - The Stone Bridge High School crew program is not even a year old and the Bulldogs are already collecting medals.

Coached by Kevin Suter and Jim Zeller, both Marietta College crew alumni and masters rowers, Stone Bridge raced over the weekend in the Washington Metro Interscholastic Rowing Association (WMIRA) Novice Championship Regatta on the Potomac River. The Bulldogs came away with three second place finishes and two firsts. Both the Girls Novice 8 and the Boys Novice 8 came form behind to win their respective races.


Prior to that, Stone Bridge raced in the Baltimore Invitational, where the Bulldog Boys Novice 4 and Boys Novice 8 brought home gold medals. The following week, Stone Bridge raced in a Manny Flick Regatta in Philadelphia, where over 50 school competed. The Bulldog Grls Novice 4 race took the highlight of the day for the local athletes as they won their race by 33 seconds. Stone Bridge Boys Novice 8 took 6th out of 21 crews, and Girls Novice 8 finished 10th out of 23 boats, competing against many well established programs.
