Baseball: Heritage JR Catcher Ty Kobylinski Verbally Commits to Wake Forest

Leesburg (May 1, 2012) - Ty Kobylinski, a 6-foot-2 junior switch-hitting Heritage High School catcher has verbally accepted a baseball scholarship to Wake Forest and head baseball coach Tom Walter to be a part of his 2013 recruiting class as a corner infielder.


Kobylinski catches and hits cleanup for Heritage and has helped them to a 8-4 conference record so far this season. He also played for the 18U Virginia Barnstormers showcase team in 2010 and 2011 and was one of the team leaders in batting average, RBI’s, runs scored and on-base percentage while playing third base, outfield and second base at college showcase events around the country.

Last summer, Kobylinski was selected to play at the Underclass All-American Games in Orlando Florida where he hit over .400 knocking in five runs in three games. He also was invited and played at Stanford University in the 2013 Future Stars games where he hit .444 with five walks and six RBI leading his team to a 3-1 record.

Kobylinski will be playing for Nationally ranked Southern California National Tournament Team this summer in Jupiter, Florida at the USA Baseball National Championships in June and at the Perfect Game WWBA in July.

In addition he plays American Legion baseball for coach Jim Grenier and Post 34 in Leesburg.

Kobylinski currently is thought of by scouts to be one of the best switch hitters in the 2013 class on the East Coast according to Prospects Wire Baseball Scouting Network.

In the classroom he holds a 3.7 grade point average at Heritage and is a member of the National Honor Society.
