Football: Briar Woods Senior Cam Serigne Signs with Wake Forest

(Feb. 11, 2013) - Briar Woods High School senior Cam Serigne, the school's career leader in receptions, receiving yards and TD catches, signed his National Letter of Intent on Feb. 6 to play football next year at Wake Forest University.

Serigne was instrumental on both sides of the football in the fall as he helped lead the Falcons to a third consecutive VHSL Division 4 state title.

Matt Rolin, a defensive standout who had his senior season end early in the first playoff game with a knee injury, has already graduated early from Briar Woods and  enrolled at the University of Florida where he will play for the Gators.

Football: Briar Woods Rising SR Cam Serigne Commits to Wake Forest

(June 24, 2012) - Briar Woods High School rising senior tight end Cam Serigne, who helped the Falcons to back-to-back VHSL Division 4 state titles, verbally committed a week ago to play at NCAA Division I Wake Forest.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder had offers from UMass, Ohio, Temple, James Madison and Air Force. He is the second Falcon to commit early with Matt Rolin choosing South Carolina in May. Read more on Seigne's verbal from the Washington Post.

Interest is picking up in other Briar Woods players as well as rising junior quarterback Trace McSorley picked up his first offer, from Boston College, and rising senior running back Cory Colder was offered by Bucknell.

Baseball: Heritage JR Catcher Ty Kobylinski Verbally Commits to Wake Forest

Leesburg (May 1, 2012) - Ty Kobylinski, a 6-foot-2 junior switch-hitting Heritage High School catcher has verbally accepted a baseball scholarship to Wake Forest and head baseball coach Tom Walter to be a part of his 2013 recruiting class as a corner infielder.

Football: Gone Bowling! Loudoun Boasts 26 Athletes on Rosters of Bowl-Bound College Teams

(Dec. 6, 2011) - Loudoun's success on the football field -- Loudoun schools have made seven state title appearances since 2007 and if Briar Woods can defend its Division 4 state crown Saturday it will be the fifth straight year a Loudoun school has won a state title -- has translated to plenty of local athletes at the NCAA Division I level.

In fact, you will have a good chance this college bowl season to catch a Loudoun grad as a total of 26 Loudoun football players are on the rosters of bowl-bound teams spread over 11 bowl games from Dec. 20 to Jan. 7. An impressive 10 Stone Bridge grads are on bowl-eligible teams rosters.

Not all the players listed below suit out at games or travel as some work hard for the practice squads but they are all part of top tier football programs and they got their start in Loudoun! Across the state of Virginia there is all kinds of football talent ... see the list below:

Football: Stone Bridge Sophomore Jon Allen Receives Offer from Wake Forest

(May 19, 2011) - Stone Bridge High School sophomore Jon Allen, who set school records with 20 sacks and eight forced fumbles in the fall, has received an offer from Wake Forest University.

Allen is 6-foot-3, 215 pounds and runs a 4.5 40.

Football: Burns a Hot Prospect as Two More NCAA Division I Schools Offer Stone Bridge DL

(Feb. 14, 2010) - Stone Bridge High School 6-foot-7 junior defensive lineman Rob Burns will have plenty of choices as two more NCAA Division I schools -- Stanford and Wake Forest -- have joined Virginia and Duke in offering the Bulldog.

Wake Forest already has a bevy of Bulldogs on the roster including Y'Lou Brown, Mike Olson and Patrick and Zach Thompson.

Burns took unofficial visits to both Duke and Wake Forest this weekend and reports back: "Both schools are strong academically and offer BCS caliber football programs. Making a decision will be hard!"
