(May 14, 2011) - There are seven area boys lacrosse teams alive in postseason play with district and regional play coming up Monday and Tuesday.
In the Dulles District semifinals Monday, Briar Woods hosts Woodgrove and Dominion hosts Loudoun County. Since Briar Woods is assured of a Region II bid, if the Falcons win, then the winner of the Dominion vs. Loudoun County would get a bid and the two semifinal losers would play for the third and final regional spot. If Woodgrove beats Briar Woods, then the Wolverines would clinch a bid as well as the winner of the Titans vs. Raiders match-up.
In the Cedar Run semifinals Monday, Heritage has a tough task as they travel to power Battlefield. Loudoun Valley and Stonewall Jackson meet after splitting the season series. Battlefield has a regional bid already with one more Cedar Run team to advance to the Northwest Region tournament.
In the AAA Northern Region, the 16-team regional tournament starts Tuesday with Stone Bridge playing at Woodson.
