Boys Lacrosse: Dominion Makes Dulles District Finals for Third Straight Season

Special to VivaLoudoun
Sterling (May 16, 2011) - Dominion High School boys lacrosse coach Pete Lenotti once again has his Titans peaking at the right time of the season as the club will make their third consecutive trip to the finals of the Dulles District lacrosse tournament after a convincing 13-7 semifinal win over Loudoun County Monday night at rainy Titan Stadium.

Even with an hour rain delay mid-way through the 2nd period, the Titans were firing on all cylinders on both ends of the field Monday night, as the Dominion defense, led by JR Troy Farmer and SO Trevor Royce, held a 31-18 advantage in ground balls, and the Titan offense pumped in five goals in each of the first and fourth periods to put it out of reach for the Raiders.

Royce grabbed four ground balls, Farmer gobbled up five and created three turnovers, while seniors Paul Miniaci (D-Middie) and Andrew Fawkes (Goalie) each grabbed six apiece, and Fawkes was again strong in goal with 12 saves on the night.

The offense for both teams had contributions from a number of players. For Dominion, sophs Brett Bushman (3G, 2A), Cody Farmer (3G), and SR Stephen Tarrant (3G, 4A) led the way with six others providing goals and assists.

The Raiders were led by Peyton Stone (2G, 2A) and Sean Rogers (2), while All-District Middie Jack Reimers, the Raiders hero in a last-second win over Broad Run last Thursday, was limited to one assist by the tenacious Titan defense.

The Titans will defend their Dulles District tournament title against regular-season champion Briar Woods -- an 11-8 winner over Woodgrove Monday -- Wednesday night at 8pm at Tuscarora HS, while County will take on Woodgrove at 6pm in the consolation game that will determine the third Dulles District team that goes on to play in the State AA Regional tournament.
