Tennis: Broad Run Girls Win Dulles District Tournament; Singles and Doubles Action Moved Indoors

(May 16, 2011) - The Broad Run High School girls tennis team added the Dulles District tournament title to their regular-season banner with a 5-3 win Monday over Freedom.

For the Spartan girls, Mel Waterman, Lauren Northcott, Gauri Powale and Clara Sartor picked up singles wins. The clinching doubles win came from Waterman and Powale. Broad Run will now host a regional tournament match next Tuesday while Freedom travels.

The Dulles District singles and doubles tournament will start today but has been moved indoors to Ida Lee Recreation Center in Leesburg. The revised schedule includes an unusual early morning wake-up call as doubles matches will take place Wednesday morning prior to school starting at 7 a.m.

Here is the schedule for singles;
Tuesday, 5/17/11
6 PM - Boys #1 (FHS) v #4 (PFHS)
7 PM - Girls #1 (WHS) v #4 (BRHS)
7:30 PM Boys #2 (BRHS) v #3 (DHS)
8:30 PM Girls #2 (PFHS) v #3 (FHS)

Finals matches will be run if we have time but will most likely be Wednesday evening.

Times are when individual courts come open. If a match finishes prior to your scheduled court time, we will move you to get started asap. In other words, all players/coaches should be at the courts by 6 PM so we are prepared to start as soon as we can.

Doubles matches;
Wednesday, 5/18/11.
7 AM = All 4 semis matches
You can arrive at Ida Lee at 6:30 AM (facility will be opened at 7 but we should be able to start warm ups a little earlier).
2 PM = Doubles Finals

8:30 PM = Completion of Singles finals if needed -
