Wrestling Notebook: Freedom Rings Up Big Victory over Potomac Falls; BW Edges Dominion; Valley Splits Cedar Run Pair

(Jan. 14, 2010) - Freedom High School erased any doubts about its strong run through the AA Dulles District this season with a convincing 56-18 win over Potomac Falls Wednesday, the two-time defending district tournament champion. It was the Panthers first district duals loss since the 2005-06 season.

Loudoun Valley Report

Alex O'Connor Receives his medal after winning at 215 over the weekend at the JIT. It was his second straight JIT title.

The Vikes took third over the weekend at the JIT with three champions: Oliver Hilgartner 119, Daniel Adler 189 and Alex O'Connor 215

For O'Connor it was his second Consecutive JIT title and a dominant defense. Zack Bolan at 171, earned the runner up spot. Paul Riedel 135, and Mike Garvis 160, took third.

On Wednesday the Vikes took the mat in the first of the Cedar Run District Duals, held at Stonewall Jackson.

Valley defeated Heritage 51-15 and then were defeated by Osbourn, 30-36

Going undefeated for Valley on the night: Paul Riedel 135, David Garvis 145, Mike Garvis 160, Zack Bolan 171, Alex O'Connor 215.

Matt Buhl 112, Oliver Hilgartner 119, Justin Longosky 130, Seth Potts 140 and Daniel Adler
189 went 1-1 on the night.

The Vikings wrestle over the weekend at Riverbend and complete their District Dual schedule next Wednesday against Stonewall and Battlefield.
