Basketball: Wednesday Night Scoreboard and Thursday Skinny

(Jan. 14, 2010) - It was a limited night of basketball Wednesday as the Broad Run High School boys, with Kevin McGaughey scoring 23 points, improving to 14-1 on the season with a 69-40 non-district win over Brentsville.

In the only other game played, the Briar Woods girls fell to George Mason, 62-38. The Dominion vs. Handley boys and girls varsity contests were cancelled.

Ahmad Zafar scored 18 and Taylor "T-bone" Johnson added 10 for the Spartans, off to one of the best starts in school history.

The Skinny: Falcon soph Myles Tate has been torching non-district opponents ... by the time they respect this 5-foot-5 guard he has thrown down 30!

Chloe Owens broke loose for 25 the other night. If Imani Smith has a big game, the Titans could snap their losing streak
Potomac Falls (3-1, 7-3) at Freedom (5-0, 10-2)
The Panthers proved Monday in Leesburg that there is indeed a third team in the Dulles District race
Loudoun County (4-1, 10-2) at Broad Run (3-2, 7-5)
Brittany Batts not only scored 30 and hit eight 3-pointers the other night but also challenged any Loudoun sportswriters to a game of "HORSE" .... OK, we made that up.
