Gymnastics: 30 Years of the Park View Invitational! A Historical Look

Sterling (Jan. 11, 2010) - No event has been running longer in Loudoun than the Park View Gymnastics Invitational which just celebrated its 30th meet on Saturday. Here is a historical look at the meet:

2010 - Loudoun Valley wins the upper division for the first time since 2002. Stone Bridge and Broad Run finish 2-3 in meet that features all 10 Loudoun schools.

2009 - Stafford edges Loudoun Valley to win the upper division. Loudoun County's Vicki Vesecky wins the All Around

2008 - Power Osbourn Park captures the upper division

2007 - Meet Returns after two year absence with Glory Days Grill as Sponsor

2005 - The 29-year-old meet not held due to a late coaching change at Park View

2004 - First-year Dominion impresses at the meet with their debut. Valley's Alicia Essex wins All around with 37.025. Stonewall Jackons repeats as team champion with Stafford runner-up.

2003 - Loudoun Valley finishes third behind Stonewall Jackson and Stafford in upper division. Viking Alicia Essex just misses All Around title. Meet down to 12 teams.

2002 - Loudoun Valley, led by mother-daughter coaching team of Marty and Jen Cooper, wins upper division with Potomac Falls, Broad Run and Stafford trailing

2001 - Potomac Falls' Elisa Padilla shines at meet as Panthers just miss title, finishing runner-up to Stafford, led by Sarah Brown.

2000 - Stonewall Jackson, on coach Karen Lutman's birthday, wins upper division followed by Broad Run and Park View

1998 - Park View gymnast, Shannon Coghlan, one of Loudoun's top athletes, makes return from injury at Park View Invitational, the 18th annual event. Brooke Point's Emily McNabb wins All Around.

1997 - Beth Patton leds Stafford to a school record 140.05 scoring to win title

1996 - Chevonne Davis of Stonewall Jackson scores a 9.9 on the beam and 9.8 on the floor to win All Around with a 37.15.

1993 - In the 15th edition of the meet, Hylton, led by Deborah Santiago, wins with North Stafford runner-up

1991 - North Stafford captures meet for fourth straight year!

1990 - North Stafford, led by Mindy Berg, wins meet for third straight year

1989 - North Stafford, led by Mindy Berg, repeats as champ

1988 - North Stafford, led by Mindy Berg, wins meet and goes on to win first of four AAA state titles in six years. 24 teams compete this year! West Springfield is runner-up to North Stafford.

1987 - Park View coach Michelle Maged changes format to current set-up with two divisison. Sheri Susi of West Springfield wins the All-Around at this 10th annual meet.

1986 - Robinson's Cherylynn Lillvik wins All Around at the 9th annual meet.

1977 - Park View High School's first winter season!
