Football: Last Week's Rewind

A quick look at how all the football teams in Loudoun did last week before you head out to tonight's big games!

Fri. Sept. 23
Briar Woods 51, Potomac Falls 6
The Skinny: Falcons continue high scoring ways with Trace McSorley throwing for two scores on 12 of 18 passing for 124 yards including a 2-yard toss to Cam Serigne and a 4-yard pass to Darryll Gadsen. BWoods running attack is gearing up as Cory Colder went for 119 yards and two scores from the goal line. Alex Carter's 84-yard kickoff return for a TD to open the second half made it 37-0. Panthers lone score came on a Michael Fishcetti 28-yard TD pass to Wayna Allen. Falcons finished with two more scores inside the 10, by Brandon Brown and Chris Larco. PFalls was held by Falcon defense to just three first downs in the game.

Woodgrove 35, Dominion 19
The Skinny: Wolverines end a 2-game slide and earn first ever Dulles District victory. The Titans actually led in the second quarter, 19-14, but WG finished with 21 unanswered points. Woodgrove's Atem Ntantang had a huge game rushing with 221 yards on 32 carries and he scored on a 10-yard TD run. Also scoring for WG on the ground were Joshua Sweet, twice from 1 and 7, and Tyler Workman from 25 yards. Workman was just 3 of 4 passing but that was good for 106 yards with Caleb Welsh catching two balls for 83 yards. William Hoffer iced the game for the Wolverines with an 80-yard interception return. Dominion had its best game passing on the year with Donnie Gasser going 13 of 27 for 159 yards. Matt Valenzuela had a big night with 7 catches for the Titans, totaling 96 yards including a 36-yard TD. Dashaun Wesley scored on the ground for Dominion and finished with 49 yards on 16 attempts. Garrett Robinson had a 75-yard kickoff return for a TD for the Titans. Sweet for WG finished with 91 yards, averaging more than 10 yards a carry as WG broke 300 yards in rushing.

Freedom 43, Wakefield 8
The Skinny: Eagles win their first game of the season. Derek Burns rushed for 90 yards on 19 attempts and scored from 6 and 21 yards out. Trent Gilmore went 4 of 10 passing for Freedom with 146 yards including a 40-yard TD to Garrison Fuller to start the scoring in the second quarter.
