Academic News: Stone Bridge Captures 1st Part of Scholastic Challenge

(Dec. 1, 2009) - Stone Bridge High School was the winner of the first half of the 2009-2010 Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) Academic Challenge on Nov. 18 at Broad Run High School.

The College Bowl-style competition consists of four rounds of questions, including two sessions of toss-up questions (answered by the team touching the electronic buzzer first) and directed questions (questions directed at a specific team). Each question is worth 10 points.


The point standings for the first part of the Academic Challenge competition were:

1. Stone Bridge, 320

2. Park View, 310

3. Broad Run, 270

4. Harmony/Loudoun Valley, 210

5. Dominion, 170

6. Heritage/Potomac Falls, 160

7. Briar Woods, 150

8. Loudoun County, 120

9. Freedom, 100

The second half of the Academic Challenge will be April 21st at Potomac Falls High School.

Park View High School is the defending champion in this competition.
