Crew: Briar Woods Club Begins Second Season

Ashburn (May 3, 2012) - Just off Belmont Ridge Road, there is a little known gravel road that leads to Beaver Dam Reservoir and this is where 60+ Briar Woods high school students meet each day to train for crew team.


These students, boys and girls - members of the newly formed Briar Woods Crew Club, are learning the sport of rowing for the first time. Because the team is so new, it has limited funds available for the expensive equipment required and maintenance. Luckily, many Loudoun County community benefactors have contributed funds thus far to enable the club to have eight boats and a floating dock to launch the boats.

In addition, they have a small trailer building for erging and winter training. It's incredible to see the progress the team has made in only two years. However, the Club is not done yet. They want to build a permanent boathouse and build a new dock within the next year.

On Sunday, May 6th
• Lansdowne location- Join us at the Loudoun Lyme Walk in Lansdowne VA on May 6th, 2012 from 6-10 am and look for our table. (Fresh Krispy Kreme donuts)
• Broadlands location (Capital One Bank - 43200 Broadlands Center Plaza, Ashburn, VA ) - We will be selling fresh donuts from Krispy Kreme from 9 am -12 noon in the bank parking lot.
• For evening fun, meet up with parents from BW Crew Club at Parallels in the Broadlands shopping center from 5-8pm. Twenty percent of all sales will go to BW Crew Club.
