College Corner: Potomac Falls Grad Flickinger Becomes West Virginia Wesleyan's All-Time Baseball Hits Leader

(May 2, 2012) - Potomac Falls High School grad Cory Flickinger became West Virginia Wesleyan's all-time baseball hits leader last week with a sixth inning single in the first game of a doubleheader split with West Liberty.

Flickinger moved past Lou Capolupo into first place on the Wesleyan's all-time hits list with 220. Earlier in the game, Flickinger collected RBI hits in the second and fourth innings of the 6-1 win. A 7-6 loss in the second games snapped the Bobcats 11-game winning streak.


The senior outfield/infielder has played in all 42 games this season, leading the team in runs scored (47), hits (54), doubles (17), home runs (8), walks (21), stolen bases (20), batting average (.388), on-base percentage (.488) and slugging percentage (.698).

West Virginia Wesleyan (26-16 overall, 21-8 WVIAC conference) finishes the regular season Thursday against Fairmont State.
