Golf: Loudoun Valley Captures Cedar Run Title; Host Heritage Qualifies Five for Regionals

Leesburg (Sept. 18, 2009) - The Loudoun Valley High School golf team captured the AAA Cedar Run District tournament Thursday by three strokes over runner-up Battlefield in overcast conditions at River Creek.

The regular-season champion Vikings shot 310, led by Scott Davidson's 74. Battlefield posted a 313 with Andrew Lister winning low medalist with a 73. Both teams move on to the Northwest Region tournament which will be held at the Piedmont Golf Club in Haymarket on Oct. 8.


Host Heritage qualified almost its entire team for the regionals with five players moving on from the four-team tournament: Paige Pomerene (76), John Connelly (81), Katie Labgold (85), Ryan Douglass (87) and Nicole Feaster (87). The top six players not on LV or BF qualified with Monica Carlson (86) of Osbourn Senior joining the Pride five.

Valley got a 77 from Brandon Deleonardis and a 79 from Zack Bosse. Tanner Welsh rounded out the scoring with an 80. Brian Hickey and Colin Wallace both shot 83 for the Vikes.

Battlefield got a 76 from P.J. Leonard and a pair of 82's from Brendan Pastor and Hunter Buchanan.
