News: Team Joe Charity Golf Tournament Set for Oct. 4

(Aug. 31, 2012) - Online registration is available for the sixth annual Team Joe Charity Golf Tournament, which is scheduled for Oct. 4, 2012 at the Loudoun County Golf and Country Club with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. The tournament, created in 2007, raises funds for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children.

The tournament is named for Cheers Sports owner Denny Petrella's son, Joe Petrella, who was born 12 weeks early and weighed only 1.5 pounds. He fought for his life the moment he entered this world. Lucky for Joe he was in the best possible place ~ the NICU at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children.

The NICU is a level 3 care facility, which is the most advanced of its kind in Northern Virginia. The unit has over 60 beds and is one of the largest in the nation, and admits high-risk infants from all over our region. Joe Petrella was born 12 weeks early, weighing only 1.5 pounds. He spent 104 days in the NICU, and without their wonderful care he would not be here with us today!

For anyone interested in donating to the charity, please keep in mind that every dollar donated to Team Joe goes directly to the NICU. We have no administrative costs, and all costs incurred hosting our golf tournament and other fundraisers are paid for by Denny, Gen, and Joe Petrella. News: VivaLoudoun Signs on as a Founding Sponsor for Team Joe Charity

(Sept. 3, 2010) - VivaLoudoun has signed on as a Team Joe Founder for the local charity golf event that has raised $75,000 the past three years with all proceeds benefiting the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Fairfax Hospital for Children.

VivaLoudoun was one of three businesses to pledge $5,000 to the charity this week. Bill Thomas of Keller Williams Realty and the Fairfax Neonatal Associates -- the team that took care of the charity's namesake, Joe Petrella, who spent 104 days in the NICU at Fairfax Hospital -- also joined as Team Joe Founders.

Previous Team Joe Founders include United bank, Cheers Sports, Loudoun Valley Floors, and Dr. Chad Parsons.

It has been a busy time for the Team Joe event with many sponsors joining at various levels including BB&T Wealth Management and the Katelyn Hall Foundation as Ace Sponsors ($1,000 of support); and Loudoun Girls Little League Softall and Spanky's Shenanigans Pub as Eagle sponsors ($500).
