News: Team Joe Charity Golf Tournament Set for Oct. 4

(Aug. 31, 2012) - Online registration is available for the sixth annual Team Joe Charity Golf Tournament, which is scheduled for Oct. 4, 2012 at the Loudoun County Golf and Country Club with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. The tournament, created in 2007, raises funds for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children.

The tournament is named for Cheers Sports owner Denny Petrella's son, Joe Petrella, who was born 12 weeks early and weighed only 1.5 pounds. He fought for his life the moment he entered this world. Lucky for Joe he was in the best possible place ~ the NICU at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children.


During his 104 day stay in the NICU, from October 2006 to February 2007, he was blessed with outstanding care from all the doctors, nurses, and specialists who help save the lives of babies like Joe each and every day.

All of the money raised by Team Joe Charities will be given to the NICU to help them continue to give the best possible care to these special babies and their families.

The NICU at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children is a Level 3 care facility, which is the most advanced of its kind in Northern Virginia. The unit is one of the largest in the nation, and admits high-risk infants from all over our region. Plans are underway for the construction of a new NICU, and with our help we will fund the completion of a family lounge that will be inside of the new NICU.

The goal is to raise the money needed to furnish "Joe's Room" and create a nice, comfortable space to help families care for the miracle babies who enter the NICU. Team Joe Charities is a 501(c)(3) charitable foundation
