(Aug. 31, 2012) - Loudoun County High School has a bye tonight but the Raiders probably wish they were back on the field after a fast start to the 2012 season with a 53-21 win over Freedom in South Riding.
The Raiders got a huge game from senior Matt Arneson who rushed for 239 yards on just 14 carries, four of them resulting in TDs. Arenson's average carry gained 17 yards.
Loudoun County quarterback Jake Lokey (6 for 12 for 162 yards, 2 TDs) got off to a fast start as well with three balls to his favorite target, Brad Szoka (113 yards, TD). Quan Stinger also caught a 30-yard score.
Xavier Lacey added a TD on the ground and Mike Anderson and Szoka both returned interceptions for scores for the Raiders.
Loudoun County travels to Purcellville next Friday for Loudoun's oldest match-up -- dating back to 1962 -- when the Raiders face Loudoun Valley to open Dulles District play.
Freedom has a huge game tonight as the Eagles welcome new Champe High School, the school that opened in Aldie to relieve overcrowding at the South Riding school. This will be the first of two meetings this year between "big brother" and "little brother" as the Knights will host Freedom on Oct. 19.
